I was pondering this same subject on our first cold and rainy Sunday afternoon of the autumn as I listened to “This American Life”‘ (Episode 137, “The Book That Changed Your Life”) in the car. I happened to be recovering from the previous evening’s failed poem attempt, in which I scolded “books I claim I’ve read but can’t remember”.
