Franzen will probably expand in an essay for Harpers in not to distant future. Followed by an indie film... Gus Van Sant's Last Days... I like the title, though. Hopefully Ted Kazynski doesn't try to make that story into a movie. "They're bottom-dwellers and do not like bright light- if in the sunlight or a fluorescence, they will always congregate in whatever part is the darkest. Fairly solitary, they also clearly dislike the crowding that's part of their captivity... one reason their claws are banded is to keep them from attacking one another under the stress of close-quarter storage."
